Barbara B Wins 2009 Tournament |

The Barbara B released 7 billfish to capture the 2009 Barta Boys & Girls Club Billfish Tournament. Saturday 28 more billfish were released for a total 48 billfish during the two day tournament. That broke down to 41 Sailfish, 6 White Marlin and 2 Blue Marlin. Second place went to Stream Weaver who released 6 billfish followed by Builders Choice who came in 3rd with 6 releases.
Dalton Meyer, Jr. Angler who fished on the Penta Gone released 4 billfish on Saturday to take the top spot in the Jr. Angler Billfish Division. Dalton stayed on the boat at the Beaufort Docks during the tournament and when he woke up Saturday morning the boat was already underway. "He woak up and really did not want to go fishing but we were already underway", said his grandfather Mike Meyer. "I just sat in the chair and when I would get one released they would hand me another rod, it was really fun", said Dalton. The Penta Gone is owned by the tournament title sponsor Volvo Penta. Just behing Dalton was Austin Lord aboard Maggie with 3 released and the Caroline with 3 releases.
Maggie also took home top honors in the Dolphin Category when Ran Johnston caught a 22.76lb dolphin. Megan Rimmer aboard Piracy was in 2nd with 22.36lbs and Tony Wielicki aboard the Just One More rounded out 3rd place with 20.76lbs. The Tuna Division was won by Nicolas Grisson who fished on the Sensation followed by Kylie Schad on the Impluse and Sara Kirtpatrick on the Sea Hag. The Wahoo division was won by Will VanSciver aboard the Run Off with a 23.56lb wahoo. Second place went to Edward Julian on the Dancin Outlaw 20.9lbs and third place went to Austin Moore aboard We III with a 19.76lb Wahoo. The King Mackeral Division winner was Summer Garner on the Piracy with a 10.7lb fish followed by Chase Hawkins on the Cardinal Sin with 7.5lb and thrid place was Hunter Garner on the Yellowfin with a 7.0lb king.
